The Now Interviews at Venice Architecture Biennale in 2010

ForYourArt produced The Now Interviews, part of Hans Ulrich Obrist’s Interview Project—an ongoing, expansive endeavor to interview hundreds of cultural figures who have defined the 20th and 21st centuries.

For this element of the project, Obrist was invited by curator Kazuyo Sejima and interviewed every participant in the 2010 Venice Architecture Biennale, culminating in what he terms “a portrait of an exhibition.” The NOW Interviews were exhibited in the Arsenale in a layout designed by the architectural firm, SANAA. The interviews appeared on a series of monitors, each with their own seat and headset, for the duration of the Biennale. By encouraging viewers to consider the diverse practices of the exhibition participants, the installation worked in tandem with the theme of the Biennale, directed in 2010 by Kazuyo Sejima, which was “People Meet in Architecture.”
