Performance and conceptual artist Eleanor Antin staged CARVING: A Traditional Sculpture in 1972, consisting of 148 black-and-white photographs following the transformation of her body as she lost 10 pounds over 37 days. She restaged the work in 2017, producing 500 black-and-white photographs over the course of 100 days.
