Ernie Barnes: A Retrospective at California African American Museum (CAAM) from Wed, May 8, 2019 to Sun, Sept 8, 2019 ( Exhibition )

Ernie Barnes is best known for the painting The Sugar Shack (1976), which was the cover art for Marvin Gaye’s album I Want You and appeared on the sitcom Good Times. He was also the official artist of the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

The exhibition is guest curated by Bridget R. Cooks, Associate Professor of African American Studies and Art History at the University of California at Irvine with Vida L. Brown, Visual Arts Curator and Program Manager.
